Reality, Sci-Fi and Music Videos Are What's On-Demand

Video On-Demand (VOD) use has been growing exponentially in recent years.
So what, exactly, is it that On-Demanders are demanding?
According to a new study, it's reality television, music videos, science fiction programs and news magazines. The study, conducted by Scarborough Research, finds that VOD users are 27 percent more likely to identify reality television as their favorite type of programming. Further, they are 20 percent more likely to watch science fiction and news magazines, and 24 percent more likely to watch music videos.
The study also found that VODers are typically younger (big surprise), more affluent and more likely to be African American.

I totally understand this. Dramas and comedies are good in small servings, but in reality tv there is no one "plotline." everything leads into everything else and you get the sense that you could be in the "characters'" shoes.

There are science fiction magazines?
I think this is such an odd demographic, but I guess it makes sense that VOD users like stuff that satisfies their ADD - lots of catfights and lasers...?

This worries me somewhat. I feel like my children are growing up in a world where everything is handed to them; they don't even have to wait for entertainment. Whenever they have "nothing better to do" which is all the time they can just sit down and be entertained by this trash.
