FCC Seeks Record Fines for TV Indecency

A racy episode of the crime drama "Without a Trace" broadcast in December 2004 has landed dozens of CBS affiliates in hot water with the government. The FCC found the episode, which featured several teenagers engaging in group sex, to be indecent, and has proposed a total $3.9 million in fines for the affililiates that aired the program. CBS, predictably, has objected, saying the story offered teens and parents a warning about the dangers of risky behavior and lack of supervision.
